Purpose
To promote writing, encourage people to become authors, and foster a love of reading.

How to celebrate
Read your favorite books, buy books from your favorite authors, share your favorite novels online, dress up as a character from a book, write a story, or send a thank-you letter to an author .

History
Nellie Verne Burt McPherson, president of the Bement, Illinois Women's Club, came up with the idea for National Author's Day in 1928. The United States Department of Commerce recognized the day in 1949.

THE WRAP UP-- HALLOWCON!

 

I had a great time at Hallowcon yesterday. Big thanks to JoeDog, Chris, and Co. for hosting me for a fun day. It was great seeing friends Brian K. Morris & Cookie, Dan Jolley, Juliet Rose, Dimitri Walker, Stephanie Osborn, Kevin Steverson, Jared Millet, Tamara Lowery, and more. Apologies to anyone I inadvertently forgot to mention or didn't get a photo with (I'm terrible at that, but working on it). Thanks to all who stopped by my table and panel. It was a fun day.

THE WRAP UP-- GEORGIA LIBRARIES CONFERENCE 2024!

 

I had a great time Thursday at the Georgia Libraries Conference in Athens, GA. This was a fun event and my first time attending. I met some wonderful librarians, talked books, sold some books and art, and was even an answer of the conference bingo card. That was fun. It also gave me a good excuse to talk up Evil Ways, which I wrote while taking a nighttime writing course called "Murder and Mayhem for Fun and Profit" with Harriette Austin. Fond memories of those days.

THE WRAP UP-- ACWORTH STORYTELLER AND BOOK FESTIVAL!

 

I had a wonderful time at The Acworth Book and Storytelling Festival today. https://www.acworthculturalarts.org

Chris Hamer & I did a panel on creating comics, I sold some books and art (door hangers & bookmarks), met some cool people, and caught up with friends. It was a good day. You should have been there.

BOBBY UNABLE TO ATTEND ATLANTA COMIC CONVENTION TOMRROW!

 

Sadly, I will not be able to attend the Atlanta Comic Convention tomorrow. I have thrown my back out (ouch!) and it's caused a nice little sciatica flare up. This makes walking, driving, and hefting heavy boxes of books a bit tough so I'm going to have to sit this one out.

THIS WEEKEND'S SOUTHERN FRIED CRIME CON RESCHEDULED!

 

Due to weather concerns from Hurricane Helene, The Georgia Writers Museum's Southern Fried Crime Con scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled. The event is being rescheduled for April 2025. When dates are confirmed, I will let you know.

The always amazing Jeffrey Hayes designed this wonderful Tom Myers Mysteries T-Shirt based on my new book release. I love it. (Please ignore my cluttered office). I'll have to wear it at least 1 day at Dragon Con. He'll put the shirts on sale soon. I'll let you know when and where so you can get your own. I'm also hearing the possibility of a Snow shirt coming soon too. Stay tuned.

I had a great time at Hoover Public Library's SciFi/Fantasy PLUS event yesterday in Hoover, AL. I caught up with some friends I haven't seen in a while, met new people, sold some books and bookmarks, and just generally had a grand ol' time. You should have been there.
